Heat Treatment Workshop
Interior View

A heat treatment process generally comprises heating, thermal insulation and cooling. During this process, our products are basically quenched in water and oil.

Water Quenching

First, heat our drill rods for 3 to 4 hours within the hardening furnace.

  • Thermal Insulation
After heating is completed, these drill rods will be put into a quench tank for thermal insulation.

  • Tempering and Cooling
The drill rod will then be heated in a tempering furnace for 6 to 8 hours at a temperature range from 500℃ to 600℃. After that, it will be cooled in a tank at a temperature range from 30℃ to 40℃.

  • Nitriding
Nitriding is available upon request. It helps reduce the risk of scratching and extend the lifespan of our products.

  • Straightening
The thick-walled HDD drill rod is being straightened by our hydraulic machine. We use a clamp set, a dial indicator and a hydraulic jack to perform straightening operation.

  • Microstructure Testing
A pregrinder, a polishing machine and a cutting machine are used to test the microstructure of our product.

Oil Quenching

A pit furnace used for heating

  • This is a fuel tank. It is used for cooling at a controlled oil temperature of 30℃ to 40℃.
